PDI Keynote Event: Mindfulness Made Simple

October 5 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

AFW supports the Graduate School’s Professional Development Initiative (PDI) programming. This keynote event is presented by Trymaine Gaither, Special Assistant to the Provost for Inclusive Excellence.

Based on science and reason, there are simple methods that have been proven to increase one’s capacity to create happiness and decrease suffering. Drawing upon research and the MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) model, you will discover and participate in mindfulness-based practices that promote greater connection and resilience, even in facing life’s challenges. This experiential training will also explore mindfulness-based strategies to foster engaged discussion related to complex topics (such as racism and intergroup anxiety) while being mindful of the impact those topics/discussions might have on oneself and others.

This in-person and Zoom event is free for graduate and undergraduate students, as well as faculty. Event located in Butch’s Den, CUB L60, with light refreshments.
